Did you start the year with a whole list of positive intentions or a mission to lose weight in 2021. It all started so well right…but how about now? 6 months in…is the fire still there or have you fallen off the wagon? Losing weight and getting healthier can seem very tough. I totally get it. Sometimes you feel like you're doing everything right, yet still not getting results?
Here is a list of common mistakes people make and how to overcome those challenges..
1.You are obsessing about the dreaded number on the scales- This is not wholly an accurate picture of weight loss. Many factors can affect scale weight, including fluid fluctuations, muscle mass gain and the weight of undigested food. You may be losing body fat even if the scale reading doesn't change much. Obsessing about the scales can lead to frustration and sabotage of goals.
2.Eating too many or even too FEW calories. Yes, you can eat too less! Consuming too many calories can stop you from losing weight. On the other hand, too few calories can make you ravenously hungry and reduce your metabolism and muscle mass.
3.Not eating whole foods- One of the worst things you can do for weight loss is to eat a lot of highly processed foods. Some researchers believe this could be due to their negative effects on gut health and inflammation. In addition, whole foods tend to be self-limiting, meaning they are hard to overconsume. By contrast, it's very easy to overeat processed foods. You can’t out train an unhealthy diet.
4.Not lifting weights - Weightlifting or resistance training can help boost metabolic rate, increase muscle mass and promote fat loss, including belly fat. Weights will not make you look bulky!
5.Not eating enough protein- High protein intake helps with weight loss by reducing appetite, increasing feelings of fullness and boosting metabolic rate.
6.Having unrealistic expectations- This can lead to frustration and giving up altogether. Make your goals more modest to increase your chances of successful weight loss. Celebrate even the smallest of wins! Remember small steps = Big results long term!
